The photos below are more or less what we’ll be bringing for two years travelling around the world on our bikes (except the amount of toilet paper. We’ll be replenishing that quite often). The hard case panniers carry insert bags, which hold quite a bit: clothes, toiletries, etc. We then strap two dry bags to the top of the panniers for things we need to access throughout the day: lunch, warmer clothes, etc. On our luggage racks sit waterproof duffle bags with sleeping bags, tent, mats, and in Heather’s case a RotopaX jerry can. A large portion of the gear you’ll notice in the photos are worn while riding: jackets, pants, helmets, gloves and boots.

I see that Heather brings a neck foam and also a neck protector? These are things I have not considered in our shakedown trips. What made you decide to carry them?
I’ve left the neck foam behind but ride with the neck protector everyday, despite it looking like a toilet seat around my neck. I think the protector is a must-have. It is said to keep you from breaking your neck in many different types of falls or crashes.
