We have been fortunate lately with having clear skies during South America’s rainy season to see some impressive peaks in the Ecuadorian Andes. First we visited Cotopaxi at 19,347 ft (5,897 m), which is Ecuador’s second highest peak. We accessed this beauty after many miles on dirt roads and found one of our favourite camping spots yet. From here we rode the very scenic and paved highway past Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest peak at 20,564 ft (6,268 m). The bikes reached a record riding altitude here at 13,851 ft (4,222 m) and us a record of coldest temperature riding at about 7 Celsius (46F) but with a pretty cool windchill to bring it more down to about 4 celsius (39F).
Thank goodness that you aren’t in such a rush that there’s no time for photography and posting to www. Thanx for sharing your adventures and talents. xoxoxo
Awesome camp site for sure. Beautiful mountain scenery in Equador.
Really enjoying the descriptions and incredible photos. What an adventure! As Roy Rogers used to say: “Happy Trails”
Thanks Dave!
